MANCHESTER UNITED RETURN FOR WOLVES STRIKER JIMENEZ

Body:

Manchester United manager Olé Gunnar Solksjær is desperately in need of a top striker that he can rely on for the long term as he aims to steer the Red Devils to their first English Premier League title since the 2012/2013 season. The Manchester-based club have been linked to a number of strikers in the last couple of months and those links have continued to make the rounds.

Although they completed the free signing of Edinson Cavani in January, they still want to sign a prolific goalscorer that can lead them to title victories. Former Paris Saint-Germain striker Cavani became available on a free transfer after leaving the French club last summer and his move to Old Trafford has been a very fruitful one to date. The Uruguay international striker has established himself as an important player under Olé Gunnar Solksjær and is currently the best player to have worn the number 7 jersey since Cristiano Ronaldo left the club in the summer transfer window of 2009.

Cavani has scored ten goals in Premier League this season and has a couple more to his name in the Europa League after showing reasons why he was signed by the club. He was set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season but was convinced by the club, the manager, and his teammates before agreeing to stay for one more season.

United have since been looking for long-term options and with Tottenham set to ask for over £100 million to sign him ,they have revived their interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raúl Jimenez. The striker spent the majority of the current campaign out with a head injury but Wolves have confirmed his return next season, alerting United to see if they can make a bid for him this summer.
