PREVIEW: LA GALAXY VS VANCOUVER WHITECAPS

Body:

LA Galaxy didn't enjoy the kind of start they would have hoped for last weekend. They were held by Houston Dynamo. A match that ended 1-1. The match also marked the league debut for Marquee signing Javier Chicharito Hernandez. The Mexico international joined LA Galaxy from Sevilla. He was signed as the direct replacement for the departing Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede left MLS football at the expiration of his contract last season. He returned to Europe to join former side AC Milan.

Hernandez was given his debut, as he started the match upfront for Guillermo Barros's side, but it was Christian Pavon who opened the scoring for the away side in the 13th minute. The match ended 1-0 in the first half in favour of The Galaxy. But they could not hold Houston for too long in the second half. The host got the equalizer through Mauro Manotas 10 minutes after the restart. The match ended 1-1 as both sides shared the spoils.

Like The Galaxy, Vancouver Whitecaps endure a disappointing opening to the MLS season. They were beaten 3-1 at home by Sporting Kansas City. Sporting opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Alan Paulido. Jakob Nerwinski equalized for the host in the 28th minutes before Gadi Kinda put the visitors ahead just before half time. Sporting entered the second half with a goal advantage, and they continued to ask questions from the Houston defense. Erik Hurtado scored in the 90 minutes to secure all three points for the visitors.

After sharing the spoils with Houston Dynamo in their opener, Los Angeles Galaxy will be looking to record their first win of the season when they host Vancouver Whitecaps at their Dignity Health Sports Park. LA Galaxy are a real force to be reckoned with at home, but they will have to prove their worth on the field in Sunday’s football game. Despite failing to find the net in the 1-1 draw with Houston, a man to watch in the home team will be former Manchester United attacker Javier Hernandez Chicharito.

LA Galaxy will have too much for Vancouver Whitecaps when they visit Dignity Health Sport Park.
