SPURS MIDFIELDER SIGNS LONG TERM DEAL
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier has signed a new four-year contract with the club until the summer of 2024. Underlining his long-term importance under manager Jose Mourinho.
Dier, 26, had been linked with a move away from Spurs after falling out of favour in the latter part of former boss Mauricio Pochettino’s time in charge. His fitness struggles that began to affect him in the wake of a bout of appendicitis, was the reason for their fall out. But the Englishman has seen his stock risen again with the appointment of Mourinho. He has been utilized in midfield why he has been deployed at the heart of the defence in recent games.
Dier will now be at Tottenham till at least 2024 and the player has revealed his happiness with the new deal. He stated that it is a privilege to play for the club you truly love. He admitted Spurs gave him the avenue to express himself and he will forever be grateful for the club with the faith they have in him. He also expressed gratitude to his manager who had shown so much interest in him and has given him confidence to perform at his peak.
Spurs will undergo a minor squad reshuffle at the end of the season. Jan Vertonghen and Eric Lamela are among the first team players expected to leave the club at the end of the season. Vertonghen will join Roma according to various sources while the club is prepared to listen to offers for Lamela.
The club is planning on bringing in new additions to help improve the squad. Mexico international Hirving Lozano, Norwich City's midfielder Todd Cantwell and Crystal Palace's Wilfred Zaha are among the names linked with the Lillywhite.
