Out of their 4 initial qualification matches of Mexico, they have won 3 and drawn 1 as they remain undefeated and are one of the favorites of securing a top position and qualifying for the approaching worldwide football competition.

Costa Rica is following them closely behind with 7 points in 2nd place while Panama is in 3rd place with 5 points. United States and Trinidad and Tobago are struggling in the bottom section of the group.

“I believe that there are Mexican players that deserve to be abroad. To the extent that the clubs facilitate that, Mexican football will be more recognized in the future and the national team will benefit. I’m not saying they could go to Barcelona, but there is a process to getting there. A lot of them have the possibility. The only way of us knowing whether they can play there or not is by being there’’ Mexico’s Juan Carlos Osorio said.

The head coach of the Mexico national football team Juan Carlos Osorio is hoping that Mexican player receive more attention and get the chance to perform in big European clubs.

Osorio Stays Grounded after Historic Win over the USA

Mexico manager Juan Carlos Osorio has faced plenty of criticism since he was appointed in October 2015.

Even recently, he was branded as ineffective by the former coach Miguel Herrera. However,Osorio has been quietly carrying out his work and the results have followed. The biggest positive for Mexico came in the form of a historic victory against the United States in a World Cup qualifying game. Apart from the recent victory in the CONCAF play-offs a year ago, Mexico have an extremely poor record against the United States.

The previous victory achieved against the United States in a major competition was in the World Cup qualification stages back in 2009. After having achieved this victory,Osorio was pretty humble and he said that preparation was always going to be the key towards a good run. He says that the impressive record Mexico have managed in recent games has largely been down to the hard work done in training.

As a manager who embodies hard work, it is not a surprise thatOsorio has once again placed a lot of faith on working off the field as well. Layún and Rafael Marquez scored the goals for Mexico in the 2-1 victory, which sees them extremely close to the top of the table.

“We don’t think there’s a magic formula. We have to take each game individually, consider the opponent, their capabilities, and like we always have a defined idea of how we’re going to play with different alternatives and possibilities for our own players. Today for example we put the four guys up front together for the first time. They’re all very talented, at times they looked very good and it was a game that quickly gave us the right circumstances,” said Osorio. Mexico’s next match is against Panama, who are also in the mix for qualification.
